Vassivière is primarily a dam lake for hydroelectric production. A relatively high tourist coastline is maintained during the summer season, but outside of this period, EDF resumes its production and low-water support (water reserve to combat drought downstream). Out of season, the impact on the low lake can be significant, be vigilant and watch your boat mooring.

    Private ports

    For sailboats

The Club Nautique de Vassivière, the first base created in France on an inland stretch of water, is dedicated to the practice and promotion of sport sailing. It organizes regional and national regattas from April to October. It has all the necessary equipment and a harbor with crane and launching facilities.

    For motorboaters

If you’ve got your own boat and want to step on the gas, go skiing, boating or any other sensational activity (except Jet Skiing, which is forbidden), two motorboating areas are available: report to the Ski Club in the area on arrival.
