Organization & missions

The tourist office Le Lac de Vassivière was created in 1994 by the Syndicat le Lac de Vassivière. After multiple changes of legal form, it took the status of EPIC (Industrial and Commercial Public Establishment) in 2015. Today it depends on the network “Offices de Tourisme de France”, classified as category 2.

It integrates a team of 10 permanent employees, chaired since 2021 by Dominique BAUDEMONT and directed by Frédérique OUDOT.

The Syndicate entrusts it with the responsibility of carrying out the following objectives and missions:

>>> Public service missions

Stay advice: reception, tourist information and orientation of the public
Communication and promotion of the destination, management of media relations
Animation of the network of service providers & partnerships : accompaniment/classification and labeling, qualification of the offer
Coordination: leisure activities, events, large-scale events

>>> Management and marketing of facilities, property of the Syndicat du Lac

  • 2 campsites: The 2 islands in Auphelle and the Presqu’île in Broussas and provision of services (grocery stores, animations…)
  • 6 marinas that is to say nearly 350 boat moorings
  • 1 service station
  • The Island Shop, showcase of local products and crafts
  • Mandatory consultation on projects of collective tourist facilities, as an EPIC

His territory of competence is that of the Syndicat du  lac namely the 6 communes of the territory of the lake : Beaumont du Lac, Nedde and Peyrat le Château in Haute Vienne and Faux la Montagne,  Gentioux-Pigerolles and Royère de Vassivière in Creuse.
However, it strives to work in partnership with the authorities of the communities of communes Creuse  Grand Sud, Creuse Sud-Ouest, and Portes de Vassivière as well as the Parc Naturel Régional Millevaches en Limousin in order to promote a global tourist offer of  destination “large” having strong and complementary identities and characteristics.

Station Verte De Vacances

Lake Vassivière is labeled Station Verte, France’s first ecotourism label.

  • Put at your disposal an easily accessible reception and information space
  • Be open at least 240 days a year, Saturdays and Sundays included, during the tourist period
  • Display and broadcast its opening periods expressed in at least two foreign languages
  • Facilitate the steps of visitors and socio-professionals
  • Inform free of charge on the qualified local tourist offer of its area of intervention
  • Provide a reliable and annually updated advice a stay
  • Answer all year long to your paper or digital mails
  • Assure a reception service by staff speaking at least two foreign languages
  • Disseminate printed and digital tourist information in two foreign languages
  • Process your complaints and measure your satisfaction
  • Provide free access to wifi (indoor or outdoor)
  • Respect a quality approach.
