The Devil’s Gully

A few kilometers from Royère-de-Vassivière, Aubusson direction on the RD3, park in the large car park in front of the Enormous Rocky Chaos which already gives you a taste!

Getting there

Cross the road and go towards the river. The atmosphere is a little fresh and a bit mysterious : on this legendary site, the elements seemed to have scuplted the scenery. The Thaurion river, a Vienne river’s tributary, whose source is on the Millevaches Plateau, crosses the Lavaud-Gelade lake, sinks in the gorges as deep as 50m.

Littles cascades and tumultuous rapids, you’re entering The Devil’s Gully. Didn’t he shatter the granit blocks? By the way, Did you know the legend? find out !

Here starts a picturesque walk of 3,1km, about 1h10 long.
