This Monday, March 21, we ran into Paul and Frederic, two cyclos completing their tour of the Creuse.
And because each tour is unique, we asked them to tell us about their experience
Leaving Friday evening from Paris at 6:00 p.m., they arrived in La Souterraine at 9:20 p.m. They found a fabulous welcome at the Saint Michel Bed and Breakfast, which they left in the morning after breakfast.
Their goal: to reach St. Marc in Loubaud.
Here it is at the chambres du Lac, that they will stop.
Here, no other accommodation, but the welcome is great, perfect room and table d’hôte.
After a special cyclist breakfast, departure in the direction Boussac.
Unfortunately the full hotel will make them branch off to the good inn in Nouzerines.
No regrets, they eat there from sumptuous meal trays served in the room.
The last stage is the return to La Souterraine to take the train again.
While they didn’t always follow the signposts, and allowed themselves small adjustments, Frédéric and Paul really enjoyed the adventure.
While the signs are on the whole well set up, you need a map to avoid hesitation at certain junctions.
The landscapes?
Superb of course! The first stage, the most complex but also the most beautiful with its mountainous landscapes.
If the trees are not yet in leaf, the green conifers.
The 1st part is very hilly and the course sporty.
Their advice, plan the circuit over the weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The roads?
Very nice and comfortable, soft asphalt, and few trucks crossed.
Joyous descents.
Frédéric is part of a bicycle touring association in Saint Cyr l’Ecole. Sure he will talk to his colleagues about the Tour de la Creuse!”
