Nephew of the painter impressionistic comment Fernand Maillaud, Pierre Maillaud, famous resistant French, announcer with Radio London during the Second World War takes Pierre Bourdan's pen name in homage to the village which it liked. Secretary of the Arts and the letters, he encourages and supports the Cannes film festival as well as Jean Villard in Avignon.
His commemorative stele dominates the valley of the Creuse sculptured by Paul Surtel and was inaugurated in 1951 by François Mitterrand.
