  • In 1000AD, the site of La Tour-Saint-Austrille, on Aquitaine's disputed border, was in the hands of a petty feudal seigneur, the land-grabbing Count of la Marche, and a community of canons.
    The village boasts three rare feudal mottes, plus Gallo-Roman, 10th and 15th century remains.
