Le pont Charraud

Historic site and monument, Bridge, Rural heritage in Crozant
  • Bridge built in the late 17th century. Three semicircular arches; triangular forebays upstream, trapezoidal downstream. At the top of the forks, a half-ball forms an ornament.
Local legend has it that this is a Devil's bridge, as the mason who took on the job at too low a price made a deal with the Evil One, who offered to build the bridge in a single day for the first bundle he tied.

Construction began in 1603, but the bridge was not completed until 1695.
