La Villeneuve : Lavoir

It's located in an easily accessible spot, close to the village and in charming surroundings. It has a special feature: permanently fed by an abundant dedicated spring, the water never freezes. Winters in the Creuse are very harsh, with temperatures frequently dropping to minus fifteen degrees or even lower. Before the invention of washing machines, it was very important to have a place where laundry could be done all year round, even in the depths of winter.
