This community garden at the foot of the church was designed in accordance with the Capitulaire de Villis promulgated by Charlemagne at the end of the 8th century. A medieval garden laid out in the style of the 800s to 1200s.
The garden is laid out on three small terraces: medicinal plants (160), color plants - for food coloring, inks and dyes - and the small vegetable garden.
The plants are classified by use, almost as they were in the Middle Ages, except that in those days, monks also chose each location according to its religious or spiritual significance.
But the highlight of the large terrace is undoubtedly the band of Provins roses, all in bloom. An explosion of pink, reminding us that Provins was a commercial crossroads in the Middle Ages. This May rose is non-remontant. It is used for distillation.
