Ceramic finials made by the potter RENTY or his colleagues in the neighboring commune of MORTROUX between 1830 and 1880.
The village of LINARD boasts four such finials: two on this house in the main street and two more at the presbytery (opposite the church, no. 26).
The simple or figurative finial is first and foremost a utilitarian piece to protect the spike of the frame on three- or four-sloped roofs, but it is also an ornamental piece.
