In the 14th century, Jean de Durat received several titles and honorary offices for services rendered to the French crown. He became Bailli d?épée et de Combraille and captain of the Château d?Auzances. The memory of his marriage to Claude de Mier is engraved on the imposing fireplace in the Salle des Gardes. Over the centuries, the château passed through the hands of various families, including the Comtes d?Arfeuille and the De Bonnevie.
