The 3-hectare botanical garden is located 5 kilometers from La Souterraine. It has been laid out in a natural, planted relief, preserving its ancient trees. You'll discover: the Zen garden inspired by Japanese traditions, designed to set water in motion (waterfalls, streams); the two ponds with fish, dragonflies and other insects, and birds such as warblers and kingfishers; the English garden with its mixed borders featuring numerous rose bushes and rare plants, most of them labelled....
The 3-hectare botanical garden is located 5 kilometers from La Souterraine. It has been laid out in a natural, planted relief, preserving its ancient trees. You'll discover: the Zen garden inspired by Japanese traditions, designed to set water in motion (waterfalls, streams); the two ponds with fish, dragonflies and other insects, and birds such as warblers and kingfishers; the English garden with its mixed borders featuring numerous rose bushes and rare plants, most of them labelled. Landscape designer Lionel Ewertz created the garden with an emphasis on biodiversity. A graduate of the Lenôtre school, his educational garden has preserved century-old trees, the aim being as much to enable visitors to discover the diversity of the plant world as to protect endangered species.
