Saint Priest la Plaine

The commune of Saint Priest la Plaine is located in the north of the territory of Monts et Rivières Ouest Creuse. This charming little rural commune invites you to stroll to the village of St Hilaire, to discover its dolmen (listed as a historical monument since 1990).

Don’t hesitate to stop in the heart of the village to visit the church of St Priest (classified as a historical monument in its entirety in 1979). This church dates from the 13th century, it was dependent on the Abbey of Bénévent. It was modified in the 15th century to accommodate a mural painting. On the north wall of the choir which ends in a flat chevet, you can admire this painting, 2.30m wide and 1.60m high (classified as a historical monument in 1958). The latter represents 2 characters including a Saint Anthony.

On the commune of St Priest la Plaine, there are 3 stones on which according to the legend, Gargantua left traces of his passage. Go on the tracks of this giant through the commune.
