The bodies of water of the Etroit dam and the Roche Thalamie have some nice surprises in store for you on the banks and waters of the Thaurion. A hamlet of 16 gites (86 beds) located in front of the lake and in front of the beach supervised in July/August welcomes visitors. Fishing enthusiasts are particularly in for a treat: the Thaurion is renowned for pike-perch and pike, trout hide at the bottom of the gorges. And if you choose to have dry feet, the hikes, on foot or on horseback, on the marked circuits with a view of the bodies of water will charm you just as much.
No one can remain indifferent in front of the flora and fauna that the region of Châtelus le Marcheix offers. Numerous beech and majestic oak trees, chestnut trees, offer their shade to walkers who crisscross their paths, through ferns and heather. The animal species found in our region are the otter, the genet, the wildcat as well as the peregrine falcon, the great raven, the dipper, the European nightjar and recently, the rock swallow. Many species of bats are present: this is a sign of good biodiversity in the ZNIEFF/natura 2000 area.
Your stays in Châtelus le Marcheix will make your family vacations special moments of happiness: pedal boats, boats, fishing, mountain biking, hiking and water activities will delight each of you.
