Aulon

Small village located on the wooded hillside of Cimades, not far from the small town of Bénévent l’Abbaye. The village is dominated by its town hall with a view of the Monts de St Goussaud-Ambazac, its church entirely renovated, a church with a straight chevet, a door in the form of a bracket dating from the 15th century and a bell tower in the form of a frame.

Not insignificant heritage: shoeing work rue des Faures (sophisticated device fixed to the ground designed to hold large animals -horses, cattle- in particular for shoeing), wells, fountains and restored washhouses scattered in the town and in the village of La Valodie, old half-timbered house.

Jardin de la Sagne in the village of Grand Etang, in the middle of rolling pastures, welcomes the public for a soothing stroll among plant species both local and exotic, in the presence of old roses.

In this village presence of an old historical dyke, support of the communal road that retained the waters of a pond of a hundred hectares created in the 9 th or 10 th century by the monks of Bénévent l’Abbaye and whose reach fed a mill. This pond was drained around 1885 following its transfer to the public domain at the time of the Revolution and the parcels comprising it sold to various owners.

Many paths and tracks crisscross the commune allowing for beautiful walks in the middle of the meadows or the forest, linking the villages together or allowing access to neighboring communes and offering beautiful views.
