Arrènes

Arrènes is a rural commune of 205 inhabitants. It is located in the west of the department bordering the Haute-Vienne, crossed by two rivers, the Ardour and the Moulard.

On a tourist level the commune is registered on the path of Santiago de Compostela. Between 1000 and 1500 pilgrims per year frequent the GR 654. It also offers remarkable hiking trails in a rich and welcoming nature.

In terms of small heritage, Arrenes is honored to have on its territory its “old oak” of 400 to 500 years old. It is located in the shadow of the castle of Sazeirat. Built on the territory of the village of REIX, its small chapel is one of the jewels of the commune.

On a demographic level, the commune to count until the dawn of the 20th century up to 1,200 inhabitants thanks in particular to the development of its wood industry and the cultivation of spruce. Its current activity remains for the most part agricultural.

Nearby (5 km from Arrènes) the user can benefit from a health center, a pharmacy, shops, a school and transport (SNCF line GUERET-LIMOGES)
