Nature on stage
He decided to develop this rather invasive hobby, right next to the Sedelle 40 years ago, following a principle: “I love trees so I grow them”. For a few years, with his wife Nell and the members of the association Les jardins de la Sédelle, this landscaper decided to share his passion with the public.
Thus was born theArboretum, a space of about 6 hectares, where in addition to 400 different species came to add more than 3,000 plants. But Nell and Philippe admit, sometimes it’s difficult to organize a landscape or create a garden. “We take our inspiration from nature and just imitate it, with one basic principle: it has to be beautiful.”
A journey through the world
And the result is a botanical journey to the four corners of the world, whose colors change with the seasons and where species from different countries and continents are mixed: from the United States to Japan, through Asia Minor, Hungary, India or Turkestan… Often it is nature that has the last word and that recomposes and selects. “If a species does not adapt, we do not insist” explains Nell, former botanical manager of a reserve in South Africa.
The dream shared by the couple is, also, with a scientific vocation and make this large garden, a place of observation of nature and safeguarding of rare species. Like all lovers of the Creuse landscapes.
