Up on the hill hides a marvel…
“Gargalhous” is the local name for the rose hip, which is thefruit of the rose hip and some roses. And this garden lives up to its name, as there is a magnificent collection of roses, over 200 species.
Located at a place called “Châtre” in the commune of Fresselines, in the heart of the valley of painters so dear to Claude Monet, this contemporary garden is perched on a beautiful hill: come and discover the important collection of old, botanical and modern roses, but also many vivals, irises, peonies, asters or other rare flowers and shrubs pperfectly placed in this collector’s garden.
The sense of welcome and sharing
When you see Nadine’s garden, you will say to yourself that she must spend hours there taking such good care of her roses… “you have to observe them, cut off the dead wood, sometimes remove the fruits because they tire the plant, make sure they have enough food…” and what a fabulous result of all this work, this garden takes shape like a magnificent painting in the heart of this place full of serenity. But above all it is with a lot of love and passion that Nadine will tell you about her garden:
“I would like this garden to give an impression of generosity, that’s one of the meanings of the garden, it’s the sharing… I love plants so much that I always take something back from the garden, even if it’s just a plant or a tree or the blooming of a rose, I always bring something back from the garden in my head or in my heart.”
