In the footsteps of monks and lords

Coup de coeur rando

A circuit that partly follows the Creuse, offering a real medieval route from the old monastery of Moutier d’Ahun. The walk has some nice surprises in picturesque and flowery hamlets: a fortified castle, a bridge, a washhouse … up to the remarkable crypt and the church of Ahun.

10 km
Time: 2h30
Difficulty: Easy
Elevation: + 219m
Departure point: Parking by the road leading to the village of La Grange (Moutier d’Ahun).

Yellow markings

Take the road that goes to the right when leaving the car park. Cross the farm and continue straight on the path, letting the Creuse flow on the right.

At the road turn right, then at the next crossroads, turn left. Continue straight on to Les Granges, leaving the Château de Chantemille on the right. When entering the village, take the small road on the right and enter the path.

At the next crossroads, take the road to the right and follow it for about 1 km. Cut the Ahun / Busseau road to take the very small road opposite until Félinas. In the village, turn left until the next crossroads, then take the path to the left of the cross.

Then bear left, 20 m after a bend to join the grounds of the Ahun agricultural school. Continue on the path until you reach the road. Turn left on the edge of a coniferous forest, then slightly to the right (leave the parking lot on the left).

Go up to the next intersection and take a right. Continue then turn right again. Take the next path on the left and join the road. Turn right. At the crossroads of the cemetery, turn left towards the village.

Then take the small road on the left after the school and continue to the fairground (church square). Leave it on the right and take the last road on the left. Cross the departmental road at the cemetery and go down to the village of Moutier d’Ahun
