On the occasion of the fête de la science, the Pôle des énergies exceptionally opens its doors Saturday 8 and Monday 10 from 2:30 to 6:00 pm.
But why a Pôle des énergies in Bourganeuf? A bit of history:
In 1886, the very visible industrial boom in Bourganeuf was given a novelty thanks to a Parisian engineer, Ernest Lamy. He created the first “concession for electric light”.
At the site of the museum, at a place called the “Grand’eau”, a dynamo will produce a direct current that will make the 60 lanterns of the city shine. Bourganeuf, then sub-prefecture of Creuse goes from darkness to electric light.
Early in 1887, the insufficient flow of the Verger stream and the growing consumption of electricity require to find a more important source of hydraulic energy. Thanks to the engineer Marcel Deprez, specialist in the “transport of force at a distance”, the Des Jarrauds waterfall at 14 km from Bourganeuf is chosen.
The machines and light bulbs of Bourganeuf will be powered in this way until the last war.
Based on the label “Positive Energy Territory for Green Growth” (TEPCV) obtained by the municipality, the Pole reflects the desire to get involved in the concept of energy transition.
This place dedicated to electricity allows demonstrations and reflections for the development of renewable energy, in a rural setting.
You will discover a museographic space dedicated to the history of energy and hydroelectric and photovoltaic installations.
The production, consumption and environmental impact of electricity are current topics that interest us all. With an energy mix demonstrator, tackle them in a fun and/or professional way and simulate the consumption of a home with “green” energy.
