FELLETIN

Created in 1989, the Felletin Patrimoine Environnement is an association for animation and promotion of the cultural, built, historical, technical and environmental heritage of Felletin and its associated territories, as a gateway town to the Millevaches Regional Natural Park in Limousin.

Church of Notre-Dame-du-château / rue du château, 23500 Felletin

As part of its actions, the association organizes a thematic exhibition dedicated to tapestry within the church of Notre-Dame-du-château. This year, it is part of a larger project, conducted in partnership with the environmental department of the Community of Communes Creuse Grand Sud, including exhibitions, lectures, workshops and guided tours. The purpose aims to show the importance, ubiquity and fragility of water resources, inviting reflection and wonder.

The Terrade spinning mill

Once collected and washed, the sheep’s wool arrives in Felletin! Discover all the secrets of the transformation of sheep’s wool: carding spinning, dyeing.

Les Ateliers Pinton

Once spun and dyed, the wool becomes a work of art! Discover the steps involved in making a basse-lisse tapestry and a hand tufted rug.

Guided tours of Felletin

Felletin, City of building, is a city of character with a homogeneous and preserved heritage as evidenced again by the magnificent mansions of the XV and XVI th centuries, the fountains, the statuary and the exceptional religious heritage to discover along the streets. These two routes will allow you to go back in time thanks to snapshots of old postcards that the guide will confront with current views.

“Discovering Felletin” – guided tour of the town center

All year round for groups of minimum 4 people.

“Memory of water” – visit of the hydraulic heritage

      The Histoires de Laine space

      Space of discovery and awareness of wool in the heart of Felletin!

      To discover: wools from the Creuse spinning mills Terrade and Fonty, equipment for knitting, felting, crocheting, finished products and pure wool accessories, specialized books.
      Demonstration of weaving on frame loom.

      Tuesday to Thursday: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm (6:00 pm from July to August)
      Friday: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm (5:00 pm from July to August)

      Wednesday Textile Workshops for Kids

      These initiations are designed to stretch the hands while learning to create woolen objects.

      April: 20 – 27: 10:00 – 12:00
      May: 4: 10:00 – 12:00
      July: 13 – 20 – 27: 10:00 – 12:00
      August: 3 – 10 – 17 – 27: 10:00 – 12:00

      Knitting relay point on the City

      No need to be an expert in the field! Wool as well as explanations of the projects are waiting for you at the Espace Histoire de Laines to design one or more textile creations. Once assembled, your creations will be installed in the streets of the town center on the occasion of the National Wool Days, October 28, 29 and 30, 2022.
