Children’s workshops at the Cité internationale de la tapisserie

AUBUSSON

Here we go again for a creative year! The Cité internationale de la tapisserie welcomes children aged 5 to 10 for colorful workshops where they can let their imaginations run wild… here everything is allowed, blue, red, yellow, even finger painting!

Workshop “painting the forest”

Thursday, February 17 and Wednesday, February 23

The tour features the woven image “Ashitaka relieves his demonic wound” from the film – Princess Mononoke – by Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. It features Ashitaka, a young warrior with an arm wounded by a possessed boar, taking refuge in a cedar wood to relieve his arm under cool water.

The workshop proposes to work on the preparatory phase of the production of a tapestry:the cardboard box. Children are invited to discover the work of the painter-cartoonist through the realization of their own cardboard box inspired by that of the tapestry.

Duration of activity: approximately 1h30

“Unicorn skin” workshop

Thursday, February 24

Children immerse themselves in the fabulous work of art “Unicorn skin” by artist Nicolas Buffe (2010 Grand Prix de la Cité de la tapisserie). There they discover a multitude of representations illustrating a crazy unicorn hunt dotted with cartoon characters and ancient decorative motifs. A tactile table and a large frieze book help discover the great history of this unicorn and also how it was made.

A drawing workshop allows children to create their own “unicorn skin”, in their own way and inspired by the artist’s work.
