General presentation of the Spot
The rocky cliffs with evocative shapes and the remains of the picturesque 19th century park of the Domaine du Verger, owned by Emile de Girardin, are the cornerstones of the site. It is a set of rocks that plunge directly into the waters of the dam on the Creuse.An important set of footbridges allows you to go from one end to the other.
The boulders of the Orchard are broken down into 2 climbing sectors:
– The “Slab and surplomp”
– The “Initiation”
Access and parking:
In Bourganeuf at the roundabout take the direction of Clermont-Ferrand, then take the first road to the right and park in the parking lot. From the parking lot continue on foot in the direction of the Gorges du Vergers for about 800 meters. At the level of the wooden bridge you have arrived at the climbing site.
Access is either through the city or by the GR4; the intercommunal hiking trail from Bourganeuf to Royère de Vassivière.
Equipment:
– Number of quickdraws: 8 maximum
– Provide a single rope of at least 40 meters.
– Chained relay with abseiling ring
