General presentation of the Spot
The cliff, former quarry “Marceau” is in the form of amphitheater on 2 levels exposed from east to west with complete modern re-equipment on pins. Essential straps for belays.
The Maupuy cliffs are broken down into 3 climbing sectors:
– The “Mouche”
– The “Moustique”
– The “Grillon”
sector.
Access and Parking:
From the national road 145 take the exit “Guéret center” then direction “base de loisirs de Courtille”, at the roundabout (next to the lake) follow the signs “site du Maupuy”.
Go up to the top and follow the signs “site d’escalade” then “Le GP Club” (disco) and park on the ground on the right, go to the bottom. Access is through the bottom of the granite quarry.
Equipment:
– Number of quickdraws: 10 maximum
– Provide a single rope of at least 40 meters or double rope of 2×30 meters.
