A day in Chénérailles

At the east of Creuse, a few kilometers from the RN145, Chénérailles and its surroundings are worth the detour. Here is our ideal day to discover the time of an excursion the natural and built heritage without forgetting to taste the excellent dishes of Chef Rullière! On the agenda: hike around the ponds, gourmet lunch break and visit one of the most beautiful cakes in Creuse.

Morning : Hiking by the water

Chénérailles will thus be your starting point for this day’s excursion to discover the East of the Creuse. Here the bocage is king and like many places in the Creuse, streams are legion and ponds flourish. The circuit “of the thousand and one ponds” will take you to the heart of a gently undulating landscape. This 15km route will take you to the edges of several ponds and will allow you to see the private castle of Etangsannes.

Lunch break at “Le Coq d’Or”

After this great breath of fresh air, you’ll be delighted to savor the delicious dishes concocted by chef Pierre Rullière. While my culinary favorite is definitely the incredible calf’s head and its caper sauce, you’ll find dishes cooked with local seasonal products on the menu of this establishment.

AFTERNOON: visit the castle of Villemonteix

This is certainly one of the most beautiful castles in Creuse. Its majestic architecture and the richness of the collections displayed in the fully furnished rooms make it a must-see of the Creuse heritage. We have already talked to you about this castle whose visit constitutes a real experience.
